Schedule, address and search engines

Publish and close jobs at set times, choose a job's address, control how it looks in Google, and see where the job is posted.

How-to guide3 min read

The job's Publishing & SEO tab holds everything about when and how the job appears. Recruiters and admins change it; everyone else can look.

Schedule

  • Publish at: publish the job as usual, and it goes live at this time. Until then it shows as Scheduled. Leave it empty to go live at once.
  • Close at: the job closes at this time. It leaves your career pages, the sitemap and job boards, and its candidates stay.

Times are in your own time zone. Jobs go live and close within a minute of the time, and your website and Google hear about it. The closing date must be after the publishing date. A job whose closing date has passed can't be published until you change or clear it.

The overview lists live jobs that close in the next two weeks.

Address

The Address is made from the title, such as mountain-guide-lofoten. Change it before you publish. Once the job is live, close it before changing the address, so links you shared keep working.

Search engines

Each language can have its own Page title and Description for search results. About 60 characters of the title and 155 of the description show in results. Leave them empty to use the job's title and summary. The Preview shows roughly how the job looks in Google.

Every live job also carries JobPosting data, which Google for Jobs reads: the title, description, locations, type, the salary if you show it, and the closing date.

Where it's posted

The Where it's posted panel shows the job on each job board, with a switch to keep it off a board. Boards take the job once it is published and read changes within a few hours. Closing the job takes it off every board within 15 minutes.

Each board shows one of these:

Live
What it means
The job is on the board.
Waiting for the board
What it means
Sent, and the board hasn't confirmed it yet.
Missing details
What it means
The job lacks something the board needs. The panel says what.
Rejected
What it means
The board turned it down. Copy the board's reason into the panel so the job owner knows what to change.
Couldn't send
What it means
Careers Orbit couldn't reach the board.
Taken down
What it means
The job was on the board and has left it.
Off for this job
What it means
Someone turned the board off for this job.
Not connected
What it means
The board isn't set up under Job boards. Choose Connect.

For the Bundesagentur für Arbeit, the panel also asks for the job's occupation number, such as 6962 Reiseleiter/in. See Job boards and Bundesagentur für Arbeit.

CMS Orbit

If your website runs on CMS Orbit, enter an Entry ID to link the job to an entry, such as a landing page for the summer season. Your website gets the ID with the job and can show the entry next to it.
