SDKs for PHP, Swift and Kotlin

CMS Orbit now has official SDKs for PHP, Swift and Kotlin, alongside the JavaScript SDK. Websites built with Laravel or Symfony, iOS and macOS apps, and Android apps can read pages, menus, campaigns and products with a typed client, and the type generator writes types for each of them with npx cms-orbit generate --lang php, swift or kotlin.

      Sign in with Google Workspace

Organisations that use Google Workspace can now let their people sign in with Google. An admin turns it on under Sign-in and lists the organisation's Workspace domains. Personal Google accounts, such as Gmail, cannot sign in this way.

    • SDK

      SDK 0.8.0

      • npx cms-orbit generate --lang php, --lang swift and --lang kotlin write types for the new PHP, Swift and Kotlin SDKs from the same schema, each with its own default file. --namespace sets the PHP namespace and --package the Kotlin package. Without --lang, it writes TypeScript as before.

Documentation you can read without signing in

Every guide for Bifröst Orbit and CMS Orbit now lives at docs.bifrostorbit.com, sorted by product and by who it is for, with search across everything. They are the same guides you see inside the apps, so both always say the same thing.

Write search titles and descriptions in bulk

On SEO › Metadata, choose Write with AI to write titles and descriptions for many pages at once from each page's own content. Suggestions stay within the lengths search engines show, and you review every one before saving it as a draft.

      Compare versions side by side

In Version history, Compare now shows the page as it looked in that version next to your draft, on the real website, each with its own device switch. What changed still lists every field and block that differs.

      Describe images with AI

In the media library, AI can write an image's title, alt text and caption from the picture itself, in the language you are editing. Alt text stays within 125 characters, the length screen readers handle well, and names it cannot see are left as placeholders for you.

      Choose where AI writing shows

Under Configuration › AI writing, switch writing with AI on or off for page fields, image descriptions and SEO metadata separately, or for single fields, such as a legal notice that must never be rewritten.

      AI writing in Reports

Reports now show how often your team wrote with AI each day, with a line each for page fields, image descriptions and SEO metadata, so you can see where it helps most.

      OpenRouter for AI writing

Administrators can now add an OpenRouter key, alongside Anthropic, OpenAI and Mistral, to choose from models by many providers with one key. The model list is searchable.

A clearer image field and media picker

Drop an image straight onto any image field to upload and use it. A chosen image shows its size and warns when alt text is missing, and the media picker is larger and easier to scan. A Share 1.91:1 crop shape keeps share images at exactly 1200 × 630.

Leave an SEO warning as it is

Some warnings are right for a page, such as a legal page kept out of search but linked from the footer. Choose This is intended, say why, and it stops counting towards the score and the issue counts. Components can also name the field that is the page's main heading, so pages without a hero are no longer reported as missing one.

      Step-by-step guides for developers

Connecting a website now has a full tutorial that builds a Next.js website file by file, with every setting explained and a check after each step. New guides cover how the website and the CMS work together, rendering components, menus and lists, caching and refreshing pages after publishing, regions and languages, metadata and sitemaps, testing, deploying, and a troubleshooting list of every error message.

      A public status page

The docs now have a status page at docs.bifrostorbit.com/status. It shows whether Bifröst Orbit, CMS Orbit and Orbit Exchange are working, their uptime over the last 30 days and recent incidents, without signing in. A dot in the docs header shows the status at a glance, and an incidents feed lets you subscribe.

      SDK 0.7.0

      • Links in the README and the package's homepage go to the public documentation at docs.bifrostorbit.com instead of the in-app documentation, which needs a sign-in. The documentation now has step-by-step guides for every part of the SDK.
      • createRevalidateHandler refreshes the whole site when a shared section is published, now also for sections without an address of their own, which is all of them.
      • CmsBlocks and renderComponents render the blocks of a sharedSection block in place, as the editor's live preview sends them. Published pages already arrive with the blocks in place.
      • Navigation items have an optional description, for larger menus such as a mega menu.

      Write with AI

Editors can draft, improve, shorten or simplify text in any text field with AI, in the page's language and your organisation's tone of voice. Nothing changes until they choose to use the text. Administrators add the organisation's own key from Anthropic, OpenAI or Mistral.

      Trash is now the Bin

Deleted pages and files now go to the Bin. Old links to the trash still work and lead to the Bin.

    • SDK

      SDK 0.6.0

      • Banners carry placement (aboveHeader or belowHeader) and the paths they target. getBanners({ everyPage: true }) reads the banners for every page at once, and bannerFor(items, path, placement) in @bifrost-orbit-cms/sdk/react picks the one for a page, so a cached layout can show banners above or under its header. useLiveBanners shows the banner being edited in the editor's preview as it changes.
      • list takes include: ['fields'] to read entries without an address, such as FAQ entries, with their fields. Every listed item now has its id.
      • resolve, getPage, getGlobal and list take include: ['references'] to get the entries that Reference and References fields point at, instead of their ids. Such answers are tagged cms:references, and createRevalidateHandler refreshes them on every content change.
      • CmsLivePage and useLivePage in @bifrost-orbit-cms/sdk/react show an editor's changes in the live preview as they type, without reloading.
      • npx cms-orbit generate --include references types references as the entries they point at.
      • createMockClient answers list from entries, and fixtures.entry builds one.

    • SDK

      SDK 0.5.3

First public release of @bifrost-orbit-cms/sdk, under the MIT licence.

      • A typed client for the CMS Orbit delivery API and GraphQL, with retries, timeouts and Next.js cache tags.
      • @bifrost-orbit-cms/sdk/react: CmsPage, CmsBlocks, defineRegistry, CmsImage, RichText, and hooks for banners, popups and countdowns.
      • @bifrost-orbit-cms/sdk/next: handlers for preview, cache refresh on publish, sitemaps and robots.
      • @bifrost-orbit-cms/sdk/seo: metadata, hreflang, JSON-LD and sitemap XML.
      • @bifrost-orbit-cms/sdk/testing: a mock client and fixtures.
      • npx cms-orbit generate: TypeScript types from your space's content types and components.
