Post jobs to LinkedIn as free Basic Jobs through a feed, with candidates applying on your own job page.
How-to guide2 min read
LinkedIn shows free job listings, called Basic Jobs, from partners it approves. Careers Orbit sends your jobs to LinkedIn through a feed it reads every few hours. Candidates select Apply on LinkedIn and land on your job page, so their applications arrive as from your career pages, with the source LinkedIn.
What you need
https://www| Step | Who | How long |
|---|---|---|
| A Basic Jobs agreement with LinkedIn | Bifröst Orbit | Two to eight weeks |
| A LinkedIn company page | Your organisation | A few minutes |
Job pages on your own website, at an address starting with https://www | Your organisation | Depends on your website |
Be aware: LinkedIn requires the apply address to start with https://www, so jobs only on hosted career pages can't go to LinkedIn. Show your jobs on your website with the Careers SDK and set the job address under Career site › Address and website. Since 2024, LinkedIn may also show some Basic Jobs only when they are promoted.
Connect LinkedIn
- Open Job boards and find LinkedIn.
- Open Connection settings and enter the LinkedIn company ID. It is the number in your company page's admin address, such as
linkedin.com/company/1234567/admin. - Optionally enter a Poster email on your company's domain, such as
recruiting@northwilds.com. Without one, the contact email under Settings › Email sending is used. - Choose Save, select Test connection, then turn LinkedIn on.
- Copy the Feed address and send it to LinkedIn once the agreement is through.
What LinkedIn needs from each job
- a description of at least 100 characters
- a location
- a job address on your website starting with
https://www
The Where it's posted panel on the job says what is missing. LinkedIn keeps only bold, italic, paragraphs and lists from your description, so headings arrive as bold lines.
Status
LinkedIn doesn't confirm feeds, so a job shows Waiting for the board until you select I've seen it live on the job. A closed job leaves the feed at once, and LinkedIn removes it the next time it reads the feed.
