Careers Orbit at a glance

What Careers Orbit does, how jobs reach candidates, and the first four steps to your first application.

Tutorial3 min read

Careers Orbit is where your organisation writes job ads, publishes them and receives applications. You sign in through Orbit, so there is no separate password, and an owner or admin gives colleagues access in Orbit.

How a job reaches candidates

  1. You write the job ad in Jobs, in your main language and any other language your career site offers.
  2. You publish it. It appears on your hosted career pages straight away, and on your own website if it uses the Careers SDK.
  3. Candidates apply on their phone or computer in about two minutes, without an account.
  4. The application lands in the job's first stage, the hiring team gets a notification in Orbit, and the candidate gets a confirmation email in your name.

The overview

The tiles at the top show Live jobs (and how many your plan allows), Applications this week, applications Not looked at yet, and Job ads to review. Hiring managers see the numbers for their own jobs. Career page opens your hosted career pages in a new tab, and New job starts a job.

Below them:

  • Needs your attention: feedback you were asked for, candidates who replied, job ads to review and new applications nobody has opened yet. Each line opens the right place.
  • Interviews to come: interviews booked in the next two weeks, in your time zone, marked You interview when you are on the panel.
  • Hiring at a glance: each live job with how many candidates are at New, Screening, Interview and Offer, and how many were hired. Choose a job to open its hiring room, or Reports for the whole picture.
  • Latest applications, with the job and where each came from.
  • Closing in the next two weeks: live jobs with a closing date soon.

Your first steps

Until you have done them, Get ready to hire lists four first steps, with the next one highlighted. Select the × at its top right to hide it for good; everything in it is also in the sidebar.

  • Make the career site yours: add your logo and brand colour under Look and content.
  • Add where you hire: your offices, shops and bases under Locations, such as the Northwilds shop in Oslo.
  • Publish your first job: see Create a job.
  • Show jobs on your website: create a public key under API keys for the Careers SDK, or share your hosted career pages.

Careers Orbit in Orbit

You don't need to open Careers Orbit to see what is waiting:

  • Search in Orbit finds jobs and candidates. You see the candidates you could open in Careers Orbit: hiring managers see those who applied for their jobs.
  • Tasks on Orbit's Home list job ads waiting for your review, feedback you were asked for and candidates who replied.
  • Recent shows the jobs that changed last and the latest applications.
  • The bell shows new applications, reviews and mentions.

When an owner or admin renames the organisation or changes its logo in Orbit, your career site follows, unless you gave it its own name or logo under Career site › Look and content. When someone loses Careers Orbit in Orbit, their Careers role and any feedback they were asked for go too.
