Connect an AI assistant

Careers Orbit has an MCP server, so AI assistants such as Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or VS Code can work with your jobs and applications. It is listed in the MCP Registry as com.bifrostorbit/careers.

Connect one

Choose AI assistants in the sidebar and copy the address shown there (it ends in /careers/mcp). Add it to your assistant as a connector or remote MCP server:

• Claude: Settings, Connectors, add a custom connector with the address.
• ChatGPT: Settings, Apps and connectors, create a connector with the address. Custom connectors depend on your ChatGPT plan.
• Cursor or VS Code: use Add to Cursor or Add to VS Code on the page.
• Claude Code: copy the command from the page and run it in a terminal.
• Others: any assistant that supports remote MCP servers with sign-in (Streamable HTTP and OAuth) works the same way.

The assistant asks you to sign in to Orbit and choose the organisation. That's all: there is no key to copy. Behind the scenes it gets a token starting careers_ag_ that lasts an hour and renews itself while you keep the connection. If the assistant isn't used for 30 days, connect it again.

What it may do

An assistant works for the person who connected it, with that person's role. A hiring manager's assistant sees only their own jobs' candidates.

• Find and read jobs, applications and candidates you can see, including a job's interview kits. Contact details (email, phone, links) are never given to it.
• Draft a new job ad, which arrives as a draft job marked Drafted by AI.
• Change a draft job ad's text, or save its translation into another language your career site offers.
• Summarise an application for you, from the answers, the team's notes and the scorecards you may see.
• Leave a note on a candidate when you ask it to. The note is marked Drafted by AI and never mentions or notifies anyone.

What it never does

• Publish, close or change a live job ad. Only draft jobs can be written to; a person checks, completes and publishes them.
• Move, reject or hire candidates, or rank or score them.
• Email candidates or anyone else.
• Erase or export data, or change settings.

Who did what

Everything an assistant reads about candidates, and every change it makes, is in the audit trail as the assistant and the person, such as "Claude for Ingrid Berg". A job written by an assistant shows Drafted by AI until someone on the team saves it.

Disconnect

On AI assistants, choose Disconnect beside it. Admins see and can disconnect every assistant in the organisation; everyone else sees their own. An assistant also stops at once when its person loses Careers Orbit in Orbit.
