Hosted career pages
A branded careers website for organisations without one of their own, with every published job, filters, the apply form and data for Google for Jobs.
Explanation3 min read
Every organisation in Careers Orbit gets hosted career pages. They list your published jobs, let candidates filter and search them, and take applications, so you can start hiring before you have a careers page on your own website. If you already have one, you can show your jobs there through the delivery API instead, and use the hosted pages as a fallback.
The address
Your career pages live at an address made from your organisation's name, such as app.bifrostorbit.com/careers/jobs/northwilds. Change the last part under Career site › Address and website. Each job has its own page under that address, such as /careers/jobs/northwilds/mountain-guide. Links you have shared keep working as long as the job's address stays the same. To use an address of your own, such as jobs.northwilds.com, see your own address.
What candidates see
| Page | What is on it |
|---|---|
| Jobs | Your name or logo, your introduction, the number of open jobs, filters and a card for every published job. |
| Job | The title, summary, department, locations, workplace, job type, salary when you show it, the closing date and the full description, then the apply form. |
| Privacy notice | The current version of your privacy notice, in the language the candidate chose. |
| Your applications | The candidate portal, linked in the header of every page, where candidates sign in with an email code. |
On a phone, an Apply now button stays at the bottom of the job page until the form comes into view. A candidate who prefers not to apply yet can leave their name and email for the talent pool at the bottom of the jobs page.
Your brand
The pages take your name, logo and brand colour from Career site › Look and content. The brand colour marks the top of every page, the buttons and a soft band behind the title. Headings and text stay neutral, so the pages are easy to read with any colour.
Languages
The pages come in the languages you offer. A candidate switches language at the top of the page, and the choice stays in the address (?lang=de), so a link you share in German opens in German. A job with no German text shows its main-language text on the German page, with German buttons and labels around it. Buttons and labels come in English and German so far, and in English for other languages.
Filters
Candidates filter by department, location, workplace (on site, hybrid or remote) and job type, and search by keyword. Filters only appear when there is something to choose between, and each option shows how many jobs it has. The filters are part of the address, so a candidate can bookmark or share …/northwilds?location=…&type=partTime.
Search engines and Google for Jobs
Hosted career pages are open to search engines, unlike the rest of Careers Orbit. Every job page carries JobPosting data, which Google for Jobs reads to list your jobs with their location, type, salary and closing date. The pages also have a sitemap at /careers/jobs/<your address>/sitemap.xml. When a job closes, on its closing date or by hand, it leaves the sitemap and its page answers 'not found', so search engines stop showing it.
Filtered lists are not indexed, so search engines only see one list of your jobs.
