Count down to the end of a campaign

Choose whether a countdown follows its banner, popup or landing page's schedule, or counts to a date of its own.

How-to guide2 min read

A Countdown block shows the time left, for example "Sale ends in 2 days 04:12:09". Add one to a banner, a popup or a landing page, or to any page that allows every block.

Choose what it counts down to

Select the countdown block. Under Counts down to, choose one:

  • When this banner ends (or popup, or page): the countdown reaches zero at the Ends on and Ends at in the entry's Schedule. The choice shows that moment, such as "5 Nov 2026, 09:00". Change the schedule and the countdown moves with it. This is the default.
  • Its own date and time: the countdown has its own Ends on and Ends at, and the schedule no longer moves it.

Use the schedule's end unless the countdown really should stop at another moment, such as an early-bird price that ends a few days before the sale.

If the entry has no end date yet, the choice says No end set. Set Ends on under Schedule in the entry's settings, or the countdown stays hidden on the website. A page type without a schedule only offers Its own date and time.

When the two ends differ

When a countdown has its own date and the schedule has a different end, a warning under the choice says which comes first:

  • Before the campaign ends: the countdown reaches zero while the banner or popup is still showing, and moving the schedule does not move the countdown.
  • After the campaign ends: the banner or popup goes away first, so visitors never see the countdown reach zero.

Choose Use the schedule's end to make the countdown follow the schedule again.

Time zones

Times are in the region's time zone. A countdown that follows the schedule always uses it, so it reaches zero exactly when the campaign ends. A countdown with its own date can have a Time zone of its own.

Check it before publishing

The preview counts down to the same moment the website will, using the same choice. Publish the entry to put a changed countdown live: the website shows it as soon as it is published.

At zero

Under At zero, choose what the countdown does when it finishes: hide, show a follow-up text, or say the offer has ended. To swap the whole banner instead, see Hand a banner over when its countdown ends.
