Add images to a page
Choose an image from the media library or drop a new one onto a field, crop it for its place, and make sure it has alt text.

Image fields appear wherever a block or setting takes a picture, such as a hero image or a share image.
Add an image
An empty image field shows Choose from media and Upload.
- Choose from media opens the media library. Search by name, title or tag and choose the image. The one in use has a tick.
- Upload picks a file from your computer, adds it to the media library and uses it.
- You can also drop a file straight onto the field, or onto the media library when it is open.
A file dropped onto the field is added at its full size, without cropping, so an image made to an exact size stays that size.
Change, crop or remove it
A chosen image shows its name, file size and dimensions, and a warning when it has no alt text yet.
- Change opens the media library to choose another image.
- Crop sets the part of the image to use. Choose a shape, such as 16:9 for a banner. The original is kept, so you can crop again later.
- Remove takes the image out of the field. The file stays in the media library.
Fields that take several images show them as a grid. Choose Add for more; in the media library, choose each image to add it or take it out, then Done.
Alt text
Alt text describes the image for people who cannot see it and for search engines. Write it once in the media library, for each language, and it is used wherever the image appears. Pages with images missing alt text cannot be published. When writing with AI is set up, AI can write it from the picture. See Upload, crop and describe images.
Share images
The image shown when a page is shared on social media or in chat works best at 1200 × 630. When you crop one, choose the Share 1.91:1 shape: on a 1200 × 630 image it keeps the whole picture. The share preview in a page's SEO tab shows the image that will really be used: the page's own, otherwise its hero image, otherwise the website's default from SEO › Settings.
