Edit pages on your phone
Edit any page or entry in the Orbit app for iPhone: every block and field, drag and drop, autosave, undo, the media library and publishing.

The Orbit app for iPhone has a full editor for CMS Orbit, so you can fix a page or add a section when you are away from your desk. It follows the same rules as the web: your role, locked brand components, which blocks fit where, validation, reviews and the edit lock.
Open a page or entry
- In the app, open CMS Orbit and choose a space.
- Choose Pages or Entries. Search by name or address, and filter by status or type.
- Open one and choose Edit, or the pencil on a block to go straight to that block.
To start something new, choose + in the list, pick the type, give it a name and choose Create and edit. A new page starts as a draft with its type's starting blocks, and its address comes from the name.
Fields
The page's own fields come first, grouped as on the web, then its blocks, then the title and description for search engines. Every field has a control made for the phone:
- Text shows how many characters you have left when the field has a limit.
- Rich text has a bar above the keyboard for bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, links, headings, bulleted and numbered lists, quotes and code. Text with a table or an image in it shows as it reads and is edited on the web.
- Numbers, toggles, dates, times, choices and colours use the iPhone's own pickers. A colour field with brand colours shows them as swatches.
- Images and files open the media library, where you can also upload from Photos, Files or the camera.
- Links go to a web address, an email address or a page you search for. References search the space's pages and entries.
- Lists, such as several images, several references or page addresses, can be added to, reordered and removed.
Fields that depend on another field appear and disappear as you change it, as on the web. A field that needs fixing shows the problem under it. The arrows above the keyboard move to the previous or next field.
A few field types, such as trips, products, booking services and approved claims, show what they hold and are changed on the web. The app keeps their values as they are.
Blocks
Each block opens its own screen with its fields and, for blocks that hold other blocks, a list for each slot. Open a block inside a block to go deeper; the line at the top shows where you are.
- Add a block: choose Add block at the bottom, or Add a block to … under a slot. Only blocks that fit there are offered, grouped and searchable.
- Reorder: choose Reorder next to a list and drag the handles. You feel a tap as a block lands.
- More actions: long-press a block to open it, duplicate it, copy it, move it up or down, move it to another place on the page, or delete it. Swipe left for delete and duplicate.
- Outline: in the … menu, Outline shows every block on the page at once. Drag a block onto another to put it before that one, or onto a slot to put it at the end.
- Copy and paste: a copied block can be pasted into any slot that accepts it, on this page or another. The app has its own clipboard, so blocks copied in a browser are pasted in that browser.
With VoiceOver, each block has actions to move it up or down, move it elsewhere, duplicate or delete it.
A locked brand component shows a lock. Unless you may manage the brand, you can read it but not change, move or remove it, and the blocks inside it stay as they are too. Shared sections show on the page and can be moved; their blocks are edited by opening the shared section in Entries.
Saving, undo and other people
The app saves on its own a moment after you stop typing, like the web. The line under the title says Saved, Saving…, Unsaved or Offline, will save when back. Without a connection the app keeps your changes and saves them when it can reach Orbit again.
Undo and Redo at the top step back and forward through your changes while the page is open. Deleting a block also shows Undo at the bottom for a few seconds.
While you edit, you hold the page as you do on the web (see When someone else is editing). If someone else holds it, you can read it and choose Ask to edit. If someone asks you, choose Hand over or Keep editing. If the page was saved somewhere else since you opened it, the app asks whether to reload their version or keep your changes, so nobody's work is lost by accident.
Languages, preview and publishing
When the space has several languages, the globe at the top switches to the same page in another language. A language without a translation yet is shown but can't be chosen; translate the page on the web first.
The … menu has Preview, which opens the draft on your website when the space has a website preview, Open the live page, Publish, Schedule and Send for review. The button at the bottom publishes, or sends for review when the page needs approval first. Unsaved changes are saved before you publish.
The media library
Media in a space, and every image or file field, opens the same library: recent files, folders, search and upload from Photos, Files or the camera. Photos are made smaller before they are sent, which keeps uploads quick on a mobile connection. Tap a file for its details: describe it for screen readers, move it to a folder or move it to the bin, from where it can be restored on the web.
