Hand a banner over when its countdown ends

Set the banner that takes over the second another one ends, such as when a sale's countdown reaches zero.

How-to guide1 min read

Banners are part of the Growth and Enterprise plans, with the other campaigns under Marketing.

Make a follow-up

  1. Open the banner and give it an end date and time in Schedule. A countdown block without a date of its own counts down to that moment.
  2. In the When it ends card, choose Create follow-up banner. A copy opens with the same look and blocks but no timing, named for example "Black Friday: after".
  3. Change its message, and give it an end date if it should stop too.
  4. Publish both banners.

To use a banner that already exists, pick it in When it ends, show instead.

Black Friday: 30% off00 : 00 : 05
28 Nov, 23:59 · the follow-up takes over on the second
Cyber weekend: 20% offuntil 1 Dec
The follow-up banner takes over the second the first one ends.

How the timing works

  • A follow-up without a start date of its own starts exactly when the banner before it ends. Move the first banner's end and the follow-up moves with it.
  • If the follow-up has its own start date, it waits for that date, and no banner shows in between. The card warns about the gap.
  • If the first banner never ends, the follow-up never starts.
  • Chains work: Black Friday, then Cyber Monday, then the normal banner.

The website receives the follow-up ahead of time with the moment it takes over, so it swaps on the second, without waiting.

Warnings in the card

  • Give this banner an end date: there is no moment to hand over at.
  • Not published: nothing takes over until the follow-up is published.
  • Own start date: there will be a gap with no banner.

The banner list shows chains as "Then: …" under a banner's name.
