Reuse a section on many pages

Make a block shared, add it to other pages, edit it in place, and copy and paste blocks between pages.

How-to guide2 min read

A shared section is a group of blocks kept in one place and shown on as many pages as you like, such as a product grid or a sign-up band. Change it once and every page that shows it changes too.

Make a block shared

  1. Open a page and select the block in the tree or the preview.
  2. In the bar at the bottom of the panel, choose Make shared and give it a name.

The block stays where it is. It now has a repeat icon in the tree and appears under Shared sections in the menu on the left.

Add it to another page

  1. On the other page, choose Add component › Shared section.
  2. Under Section, pick the shared section. Its blocks appear in the tree and the preview.

Edit it in place

Select any block inside a shared section and edit it as usual. A note in the panel says which section it belongs to and how many pages use it. Saving the page saves the section too, so the change shows on every page that uses it.

To change it on this page only, select the shared section and choose Detach to this page. Its blocks become ordinary blocks on this page.

Publish

A shared section has its own draft and publish, like a page. Its editor previews it on your website on its own, without the rest of the page, so you see it exactly as visitors do. When you publish a page that uses a shared section with unpublished changes, you are asked whether to publish those too. Publishing a shared section updates every page that shows it.

Shared sections in the menu on the left lists them all. Each one shows the pages that use it. A shared section that is still in use cannot be deleted; remove it from those pages first.

Copy and paste blocks

Select a block and choose Copy, in the panel, with the clipboard icon on its row in the tree or in its ⋯ menu in the preview, or press Cmd+C (Ctrl+C on Windows). On any page, Paste appears under Add component, and under Add in any slot that accepts the block. You can also select a block and press Cmd+V to paste after it.

Everything you copy is kept in the Clipboard, the button with a list icon at the top of the editor, newest first. Choose an earlier copy there to make it the one Paste uses, so you can place the same block across many pages. Remove a single copy with the cross that appears when you point at it, or empty the whole list with the bin icon at the top. The clipboard follows you across pages and tabs while you are signed in and is emptied when you sign out.

Pasted blocks are copies: changing one does not change the other. A copied shared section stays shared when you paste it.
