Orbit connections

Open Orbit connections under Organisation. It has one card for each of Orbit's other satellites.

What the badges mean

Every card has one of these badges, the same in every satellite:

• Working: the connection is on, or needs nothing from you. The card lists what flows each way and where to change it.
• Ready to set up: the connection is set up on this page or one click away. The card has the button or switch for it.
• Set up in another satellite: the switch lives in the other satellite, and this one can't see whether it is on. Open takes you to the exact page.
• Nothing to connect yet: the two satellites don't share anything yet. The card says what to do instead, where there is something.
• Not in your organisation: your organisation doesn't have that satellite. Add it in Orbit opens your organisation's Billing in Orbit, where an owner can start a free trial.

The line at the top counts them, such as "2 working · 1 ready to set up", and the cards are sorted the same way. Each card lists what comes From the other satellite, what goes Into it, and what works Both ways.

Orbit connections are only links between Orbit's own satellites. Outside services, such as Stripe, MAM, Sendcloud, Twilio, review sites or your own website, are set up elsewhere in each satellite.

CMS Orbit

The card lists your website spaces with a switch each. Switch on a space, such as the Northwilds website, to let its editors put your products and collections on pages, with prices and stock that stay current. Only Admins can switch a space, and only one they may change in CMS Orbit. A space can only connect once your shop has a shop address under Settings. See Show your products on your website.

Insights Orbit

Commerce Orbit offers every placed order to Insights Orbit as an Order placed event, with the order's total as revenue. Nothing is sent about the customer. Each site in Insights Orbit chooses whether to count it, so the card says Set up in Insights Orbit and opens Insights Orbit's Orbit connections, which lists every site and whether it counts orders.

Presence Orbit

Presence Orbit can ask customers for a review some days after their order is fulfilled. It is switched on in Presence Orbit, so the card opens that page. When it is time to ask, Presence Orbit fetches the customer's name and email address for that one order, and cancelled or refunded orders are never asked. See Ask for reviews after trips and orders.

Careers Orbit and Travel Orbit

A sending domain set up in Careers Orbit, Commerce Orbit, Presence Orbit or Travel Orbit sends email from all of them, so these cards always say Working. See Emails to customers.

Behind the scenes

The satellites talk through Orbit Exchange, Orbit's hub for events. Commerce Orbit sends an event when a product, stock, a collection or an order changes, and when the MAM connection changes status. Orbit shows them under Exchange. See Events.
