Notifications

Who hears about new and cancelled orders, failed payments, refunds, disputes, low stock, MAM problems and requests to link a MAM account, and how to choose which ones are also emailed to you.

Reference2 min read

Commerce Orbit tells your team when something happens in the shop. Every notification shows in the bell at the top of Commerce Orbit and of Orbit, links to what it is about, and can also be emailed.

What you hear about

New orders
When
An order is paid by card or placed on invoice. It says who ordered, how many items and the total.
Emailed unless you switch it off
Yes
Cancelled orders
When
An order is cancelled, with the reason.
Emailed unless you switch it off
Yes
Refunds
When
Money is refunded, from Commerce Orbit or in Stripe.
Emailed unless you switch it off
No
Disputes
When
A customer disputes a card payment with their bank. Answer it in your Stripe Dashboard.
Emailed unless you switch it off
Yes
Low stock
When
An order takes a variant from more than 3 down to 3 or fewer.
Emailed unless you switch it off
No
MAM problems
When
MAM can't be reached after three failed syncs in a row, and when it is back.
Emailed unless you switch it off
Yes
Failed payments
When
A card payment fails, such as when the bank declines it. The shopper can try again straight away, so it often sorts itself out.
Emailed unless you switch it off
No
Orders MAM did not take
When
MAM refused an order, or didn't take it after 10 tries.
Emailed unless you switch it off
Yes
Requests to link a MAM account
When
A signed-in customer asks for their trade account to be linked. Check it's theirs before you approve it on their page.
Emailed unless you switch it off
Yes

An order that is never paid is cancelled by itself once the time under Hold stock for in Shop settings has passed, 15 minutes unless you change it.

Notifications go to every Admin and Editor. Viewers don't get them. You never get a notification for something you did yourself, such as a refund you made.

Choose what is emailed

Open Notifications in the sidebar to choose which notifications are also emailed to you. The bell always shows everything. The choices are yours alone, for this organisation; your teammates choose their own.

Failed payments, refunds and low stock aren't emailed until you switch them on. Everything else is emailed from the start.

The overview

Some things wait for you rather than notify you. Overview counts paid orders still to send, unpaid and overdue invoices, orders waiting for MAM or that MAM didn't take, and lists products running low. See What Commerce Orbit is.
