Stock history

See every change to stock, with the count before and after, who or what made it and why: orders, refunds, returns, counts, transfers, purchase orders and MAM syncs.

Reference2 min read

Every time a stock count changes, Commerce Orbit writes it down. Open Stock and locations and select Stock history, or select History under a variant to see only that variant.

Each line shows:

  • when it happened
  • the product, variant and SKU
  • the location
  • the change, such as -2 or +10
  • the count before and after
  • why, with a link to the order, transfer, purchase order or return
  • who did it: a person in your team, a customer's order, Stripe, or MAM

What leaves a line

When
A customer checks out, or a draft order is placed.
Unpaid order released

When
You cancel an order and put the items back.
Refunded and restocked
When
You refund items and choose to put them back in stock.
Return received
When
A return arrives and you put items back.
Order changed
When
You edit an order and add or remove items.

When
You change a number on a product.
Transfer
When

Filter by location or reason at the top. The newest 200 changes show first; select Older changes to go further back.

The history is kept when products change, so you can always work out why a count is what it is. For example, if the Tind 2 tent shows 3 in Bergen, the history shows the 10 that arrived on a transfer and the 7 that sold since.
