Share a dashboard with a link
Give people outside your organisation, such as an agency or a board, a read-only link to a dashboard, with an optional password and end date.
How-to guide2 min read
A shared link shows one dashboard to anyone who has it, without an account in Orbit. They can change the period, but nothing else: no other reports, sites or settings. Admins can share dashboards.
Make a link
- Open Dashboards under Workspace and choose the dashboard, such as Winter campaign.
- Select Share.
- Optionally fill in:
- Password (optional): at least 8 characters. People are asked for it before they see the dashboard.
- Stops working after (optional): the last day the link works, until the end of that day (UTC).
- Select Make a link and copy it. Send it to the people who should see the dashboard.
Send the password a different way from the link, such as by phone.
What people see
The shared page shows the dashboard's name, your organisation's name and the period, with the same charts and tables as inside Insights Orbit, kept up to date. It opens on the last 30 days, and the period menu works as in the reports. Shared pages are hidden from search engines.
Someone who enters the password doesn't need it again in the same browser for 12 hours. After 10 wrong passwords in ten minutes, the page asks them to wait ten minutes.
See and stop links
Share on the dashboard lists the Links that work now, each with when it was made, whether it has a password, its end date and when it was last opened. Select Stop sharing to end a link at once. Anyone who opens it afterwards gets a page that can't be found.
A link also stops working after its end date, and while the dashboard is in the bin. Making and stopping links is in the audit trail.
Plans
Starter includes one working shared link at a time across the organisation; Growth and up have no limit. Links you already have keep working if your plan changes. See Plans and monthly events.
