Use with CMS Orbit
Connect a CMS Orbit space to a site, and see each page's visitors and campaign results where you edit them.
How-to guide3 min read
When your organisation has both CMS Orbit and Insights Orbit, editors see how their pages and campaigns do without leaving CMS Orbit.
Connect a space
In Insights Orbit, select Follow this website beside the website under Websites in CMS Orbit on Sites, Add a site or Orbit connections: this adds the site with the website's name and addresses and connects the space in one step. Or, in CMS Orbit, open the space's Settings, then Insights Orbit, and choose an existing site, or add one from there. Adding or connecting a site needs the Admin role in Insights Orbit and the right to change the space's settings in CMS Orbit. A space uses one site; connecting it to another moves it.
Your developers then add the script to the website. With the CMS Orbit SDK, page views carry the id of the page in CMS Orbit, so a page keeps its numbers when its address changes.
What editors see in CMS Orbit
| Where | What it shows, for the last 30 days |
|---|---|
| Performance in the page editor | Visitors, visits, a daily trend, the top sources, how far people scrolled and the goals reached in visits to the page |
| Pages and collection lists | A Visitors (30 days) column, which the list can be sorted by |
| Banners and popups | Views, clicks and the goals reached after a click, by the campaign's tracking label, with the other variants of the same campaign side by side |
Everyone with Insights Orbit sees the numbers. People without it see nothing extra in CMS Orbit.
SEO beside each page
Top pages under Pages shows each page's SEO score and open issues from CMS Orbit, linked to the page's SEO in CMS Orbit. See Pages and sources.
Campaign variants under Events
In CMS Orbit, popups and banners with the same Campaign are variants of it, each with its own tracking label. When the site follows a CMS Orbit website, Events shows each campaign with more than one variant in the website's live environment as a table: views, clicks, the click rate and up to three goals reached after a click, for the period you chose. Filters don't apply to it. Select a variant to open it in CMS Orbit.
A note under each campaign's name says whether the numbers can be compared yet. It uses a two-proportion z-test at 95% confidence, and with more than two variants it asks more of each comparison, so it names a variant only when it is clicked more often than every other and the difference is unlikely to be chance. Small numbers get "Too few views and clicks to compare yet". One person can see a banner on several pages, and each view counts, so read the note as a guide.
You need CMS Orbit in the organisation to see the table.
Marks on the chart
Publishes in the space's live environment, campaigns, releases and experiments starting, pausing, ending or getting a winner are marked on the overview chart, so a rise or fall in visits can be read next to what changed. The site's settings list the spaces connected to it.
Experiments
Experiments run and are decided in CMS Orbit. Here, Experiments shows what else changed for the visitors who saw each variant, any report can be filtered to one variant, and the overview lists the experiments running now. See Experiments from CMS Orbit.
