Counter screens

Put a tablet at the counter where customers can scan a QR code to review you on their own phone, or tell the team privately.

How-to guide2 min read

A counter screen is a full-screen page for a tablet by the till. It shows a large QR code that opens the location's review page on the customer's own phone, and a button to tell the team privately on the tablet.

Set one up

Counter screens are set up by Admins.

  1. Open Counter screens under Settings.
  2. Select New counter screen.
  3. Choose the location, such as Northwilds Bergen, and give the screen a name, such as Till 1.
  4. Select Set up.
  5. Scan the QR code with the tablet's camera, or copy the link to it. The link is shown only once.

On the tablet, select Full screen in the corner. On an iPad, use Guided Access to keep the page open; on Android, use App pinning. The screen asks the tablet to stay awake while it is open.

To show it in another language, add &lang=nb to the end of the link.

What customers see

  • A QR code to scan with their own phone. It opens the same review page as your posters and requests, with every review site you use. Nobody types a review on the shared tablet or signs in to Google on it.
  • Tell us privately, which opens a short form on the tablet: a rating, a message and, if they want a reply, their email. It goes to Follow-ups like any private feedback.

Nothing stays on the tablet

The screen starts again a minute after the last touch, and ten seconds after a message is sent. Nothing typed is kept in the browser, and the tablet holds no customer details.

Switch a screen off

Open Counter screens and select the switch-off button next to it. The link stops working at once. To use the tablet again, set up a new screen.

Fair at the counter

Everyone should see the same screen. Don't hand the tablet only to customers who seem happy, don't watch while they write, and don't offer anything in return.
