Competitors
Compare each location's rating, review count and reply rate with businesses nearby on Google.
How-to guide2 min read
Open Competitors in the sidebar to see how a location stands against the businesses it competes with. Choose the location at the top. Admins and Editors add and remove competitors; everyone can see them. Competitors are in the Growth and Enterprise plans.
Add a competitor
- Select Add a competitor.
- Search Google for the business, such as
outdoor shop Bergen. - If you like, type a note of your own first, such as
Main rival in Bergen. It shows next to the business's name. - Select Add next to the right result.
Each location can follow up to 5 competitors.
Read live from Google
Google's terms don't allow other businesses' ratings to be kept, so Presence Orbit stores only which place on Google you follow, and your note. Each time you open the page it reads the business's name, address, star rating and review count from Google. If Google can't be reached, the row shows Can't read and your note.
Because nothing is kept, there is no history for competitors: New in 30 days and the trend show Not kept for them.
Read the table
Your location is the first row, marked You. For each business the table shows:
- Rating: the average star rating. Yours comes from the reviews Presence Orbit holds for the location, across every connected site.
- Reviews: how many reviews it has in total.
- New in 30 days: how many reviews your location gained over the last 30 days.
- Reply rate: the share of reviews from the last 90 days that you replied to. Other businesses' reply rates aren't public, so only yours shows.
- Rating trend: how your rating moved over the last 30 days.
Above the table, a line says where the location ranks by rating and how far it is behind the leader. Figures for other businesses come from Google Maps, which the table says at the bottom.
Stop following a competitor with the cross at the end of its row.
Sample data
When Google search isn't set up yet, Add a competitor offers made-up businesses, such as Fjellsport Oslo, with a month of sample figures, so you can try the page. They're marked Sample data. Remove them once real search is available.
