Plans and billing
How pricing works, what happens when a trial ends, and how owners choose, change or cancel a satellite's plan.

Orbit and Orbit Exchange are free for every organisation, with no limit on members: sign-in, single sign-on, people, roles, regions and events between satellites. You pay for each satellite you use, and each one has its own plans.
Select Billing in the sidebar, under Organisation. If you own or administer more than one organisation, choose which one; the list shows each one's plans. You can also open Organisations, choose your organisation and go to Billing. Owners and admins can see it; members do not. Only owners can choose or change a plan.
What the Billing page shows
- Your plan and its status: in trial with the days left, active with the date it renews, payment overdue, or ended.
- What you use: websites, members, regions and AI agent connections, next to what your plan includes.
- The plans: with monthly or yearly prices. Paying yearly gives you two months free. Prices exclude VAT.
Start a trial
A satellite you haven't tried shows Try free for 14 days on each plan. The trial starts straight away, with no card, and you are taken into the satellite. Select or buy it now to pay from the start instead. See Start a free trial.
Choose a plan
- Choose Monthly or Yearly.
- Select the plan's button, such as Choose Starter or Choose Growth.
- Under Billing address, enter the organisation name and address. Tick Add a VAT number for the invoice if you have one. Select Continue to payment.
- Under Payment, check the summary. It shows who invoices go to, with Change to edit the address. Select Add a promotion code to use one.
- Enter your card and select Subscribe and pay, which shows the amount. If your trial carries on, the button reads Subscribe, pay from and the day of the first payment.
You come back to Billing, with a message confirming the plan and, if your trial carries on, the day of the first payment. Select Open CMS Orbit to go straight in.
If you have already saved a card under Billing, checkout offers it, so you do not enter it again. Select Use a different card to pay with another one.
VAT is worked out from the billing address and shown in the summary before you pay. A business in Germany pays German VAT. A business elsewhere in the EU with a valid VAT number pays no VAT: the invoice uses the reverse charge.
Card details are entered in Stripe's secure fields. Bifröst Orbit never sees them.
If you choose a plan during your trial, the days left are kept: you are not charged until the trial ends, as long as more than two days are left.
Change or cancel a plan
- Switch plan: select Switch to on another plan, such as Switch to Growth. The change applies straight away, and the difference for the rest of the period is worked out for you.
- Cancel: select Cancel plan under the satellite. If it is your only paid satellite, it keeps working until the end of the period you paid for, and you can select Keep with the plan's name, such as Keep Starter, until then. If you pay for other satellites too, it stops straight away and the unused time is taken off your next invoice.
Payment method, billing details and invoices
These are at the bottom of Billing, for owners:
- Payment method: select Add payment method to save a new card. It becomes the one your plans are paid with. Select Use for payments to switch to another saved card, or the bin button to remove one. The last card cannot be removed while a plan renews.
- Billing details: the name, address, email and VAT number shown on invoices. Changes apply to the next invoice.
- Invoices: select View to open an invoice, or the download button for the PDF. Select Pay to pay an open invoice.
If a payment fails
If a payment does not go through, the plan shows Payment overdue. Orbit shows a red banner saying the last payment for CMS Orbit did not go through, with Update payment.
- Under Payment method, select Add payment method to add a card, or Use for payments on another saved card.
- Under Invoices, select Pay on the open invoice.
Enterprise plans are set up with us. Select Talk to us on the Enterprise plan.
Free access
Bifröst Orbit sometimes gives an organisation a satellite for free, such as for a pilot. The satellite then shows its plan marked Free, with the date it ends if it has one. There is nothing to pay and no plan to choose while it lasts. After the end date, choose a plan to keep working without a break.
When a trial or plan ends
When a trial ends without a plan, or a cancelled plan reaches the end of its period:
- The satellite becomes read-only. Everyone can still open and export their content, but nothing can be changed.
- Websites that get their content from CMS Orbit stop being served until a plan is chosen.
- Nothing is deleted. Choosing a plan brings everything back within a minute.
Owners get an email three days and one day before a trial ends.
During a trial, and after a plan is cancelled, Orbit shows a banner with the days left. A cancelled plan's banner gives the end date, with Keep the plan. The banner fades after a few seconds, or close it with ×. A live countdown then stays on Home in Orbit, and a smaller one above your name in the CMS Orbit sidebar. The banner comes back once in the last three days.
CMS Orbit also shows a plan badge in the account menu, next to your role, and on a space's dashboard. It reads, for example, "Starter plan", "Starter trial · 10 days left", "Starter · ends 3 November" or "No plan · read-only". Owners and admins can select it to open Billing.
Limits
Each plan includes a number of websites, members with access to the satellite, regions, AI agent connections and webhooks, and also:
| Starter | Growth | Enterprise | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Environments per website | 2 | 5 | By agreement |
| API keys | 3 | 20 | By agreement |
| Management tokens | 2 | 10 | By agreement |
| Media storage | 5 GB | 50 GB | By agreement |
| Translation | 50,000 characters a month | 500,000 characters a month | By agreement |
| Version history and audit trail shown | 30 days | 1 year | Everything |
Each place shows how many you use, such as "3 of 5 seats" on Members or "1.2 GB of 5 GB used" in the media library. When the plan is full, adding another is switched off with the reason and a link to Billing. Reusing something you already have, such as a region already used in another website, never counts twice. Monthly allowances start again on the 1st. Media storage includes files in the bin until it is emptied. History older than the plan shows is kept, not deleted, and appears again after an upgrade.
Growth and Enterprise also include releases, campaigns (landing pages, popups and banners), custom approval steps, review dates, custom roles and writing with AI with your own AI provider key. Enterprise includes writing with AI without a key, with 5,000 requests a month. On Starter these stay visible with a lock that names the plan including them, so you can see what an upgrade adds. Simple one-step review before publishing works on every plan.
Lowering a plan never deletes anything: if you are above a limit after a downgrade, everything keeps working, but you cannot add more until you are below it.
Deleting an organisation with a paid plan
If you delete an organisation that has paid time left, you can have it deleted when that time ends, so you keep what you paid for. See Organisation settings.
