How access works
Accounts, organisations, satellites and roles, and why you see what you see.
Explanation1 min read
Your account
Signing in gives you an account on Bifröst Orbit. An account on its own opens nothing.
Your organisation
An organisation is a company using Bifröst Orbit. Its owners and admins add people, give each a role, and choose which satellites each person can open.
| Role | Can |
|---|---|
| Owner | Everything an admin can, and make others owner. |
| Admin | Manage members, how people sign in, SSO and regions. |
| Member | Use the satellites they are given. |
You can belong to more than one organisation, and see the satellites each one gives you.
Inside each satellite
Each satellite has its own roles too. CMS Orbit, for example, has Editors, Publishers and more, and can limit you to some spaces or regions. The organisation decides whether you can open a satellite; the satellite decides what you can do there.
When access changes
Your organisation is the source of truth. If an admin removes you, or takes a satellite away, you lose access to it straight away, including any roles you had inside it.
If your organisation uses Microsoft SSO, what you get can also follow your roles in Microsoft. Taking a role away there takes the access away the next time you sign in.
