# Guides and places to stay

> Keep your guides and the places you stay in one library, and use them on any trip and itinerary day.

Source: https://docs.bifrostorbit.com/travel/everyone/guides-and-places/

The library under **Guides** and **Places to stay** holds the people and places you use on many trips. Add them once and pick them on each trip; a change in the library shows on every trip that uses them. Editors and Admins can change the library. Each card shows which trips use it, or **Not on a trip yet**.

## Guides

Open **Guides** and select **New guide**. Add each guide with:

- **Name** and **Role**, such as Kari Nordvik, mountain leader
- **About:** a few sentences travellers will read on the trip page
- **Photo** and **Languages**, such as Norwegian and English
- **Email** and **Phone**, which only your team sees

Select **Add guide**. To change a guide later, open them and select **Save guide**.

On a trip, choose its guides under **Details**. Booking pages show each guide's name, role, bio, photo and languages, never their email or phone.

## Places to stay

Open **Places to stay** and select **New place** for hotels, cabins, huts and lodges. Add each one with:

- **Name**, **Town or area** and **Country**, such as Reine Rorbuer in Reine, Lofoten, Norway
- **Website** and **Hotel class**: the official star category, from 1-star to 5-star, or **None** for cabins, huts and guest houses without one. It is the hotel's category, not a review score.
- **Description** and **Photos**, up to 20. Drop photos onto the dialog, upload them, or choose them from [Media](https://docs.bifrostorbit.com/travel/everyone/media/). The first photo is the cover; drag to change the order.

Select **Add place**, or **Save place** after a change.

On an itinerary day, choose where travellers sleep that night. The booking page shows the place's name, location, rating and website. See [Build the itinerary](https://docs.bifrostorbit.com/travel/everyone/itinerary/).

For a one-off place you won't use again, choose **Write it in** on the itinerary day instead of adding it to the library. You can also add a new place to the library straight from the day.

## Move to the bin

**Move to bin** on a card takes a guide or place out of the library. A guide who leads a trip, or a place in a trip's itinerary, has to be taken off the trip first. You can restore them from the [bin](https://docs.bifrostorbit.com/travel/everyone/bin/).

## A guide's own page

Open a guide and expand **Their page on your website** to add **Lives in**, **Guiding since**, a **Quote**, **Why I guide**, **How I guide**, **What I love out there**, **Favourite places** and **My pick** of your trips, with **Why this trip**. A **Search title** and **Search description** are there too. When your website uses CMS Orbit's guide page template, each guide gets a page at an address made from their name, such as `/guides/ingrid-solberg/`. If their name changes, the old address sends visitors on to the new one.

## In other languages

When your organisation offers more than one language, open a guide or place and pick a language at the top of the dialog. For a guide you translate the role and the about text; for a place, the town or area, the description and the image descriptions. Everything else is the same in every language. See [Languages](https://docs.bifrostorbit.com/travel/everyone/languages/).
