# Add your first site

> Add a website to Insights Orbit, put the script on it and see the first visit arrive.

This takes about five minutes. You need to be an Admin in Insights Orbit, and someone who can change your website's code or its layout.

## 1. Add the site

### A website in CMS Orbit

When your organisation also has CMS Orbit, **Sites** and **Add a site** list its websites under **Websites in CMS Orbit**, with each one's logo and live address, until a site follows them. Select **Follow this website**: the site gets the website's name and the addresses of its live environment in CMS Orbit, and is connected to its space there, so editors see each page's numbers in CMS Orbit. You need the Admin role in Insights Orbit and the right to change the space's settings in CMS Orbit. When your plan has no room for another site, the plan's limit shows instead of the button.

A website CMS Orbit has no address for yet can't be followed in one step: add its address in CMS Orbit, or add the site by hand.

### Any other website

1. Open **Sites** and select **Add a site**, or choose **New site** in the menu at the top of the sidebar.
2. Give it a name, such as **Northwilds**.
3. Under **Addresses**, list where the website lives, one per line, such as `northwilds.com`. `www.northwilds.com` and `northwilds.com` count as one. Use `*.northwilds.com` for every subdomain, and add `localhost` to try it on your own computer.
4. Check the **Time zone**: days in the reports start at midnight there. It starts as your organisation's time zone from Orbit.
5. Select **Add site**.

Visits are only counted from the addresses you list, so nobody can send numbers to your site from somewhere else.

## 2. Put the script on your website

A website followed from CMS Orbit and built with the CMS Orbit SDK only needs `<CmsInsights />` once in its layout: **Install** shows it with the site's key. CMS Orbit also sends the key with every page, so `<CmsInsights page={page} />` works without it. You land on **Install**, with one line of script and your site's key in it:

Select the copy button and paste the line into the `<head>` of every page, or once in your website's layout. The key is not a secret: it only lets your addresses send visits.

Before the script goes live, mention Insights Orbit in your privacy notice, and decide with your adviser whether to ask for consent first. **Install** says the same beside the script. See [What to write in your privacy notice](https://docs.bifrostorbit.com/insights/everyone/privacy-notice/).

## 3. See the first visit

Open any page of your website. **Waiting for the first visit** on the Install screen turns green within a few seconds, without reloading. Then select **See the overview**.

Nothing arriving? Check that:

- the address you opened is one of the site's addresses,
- your browser does not have **Do Not Track** or **Global Privacy Control** switched on, since those visits are not counted,
- an ad blocker is not blocking the script. [Serve it from your own domain](https://docs.bifrostorbit.com/insights/developers/first-party-proxy/) to avoid that.
