# Send orders and add tracking

> Mark all or part of an order as sent, add the carrier and tracking, and choose whether the customer gets an email with the tracking link.

When a parcel leaves, mark the order as sent in Commerce Orbit. The customer can then follow it, and **To send** on the overview goes down by one. Editors and Admins can mark orders as sent.

## Mark an order as sent

1. Open the order and select **Mark as sent**.
2. Choose how many of each line are in this parcel.
3. Under **Carrier**, type or pick the carrier, such as Bring, Posten, PostNord, DHL, UPS, DPD, FedEx or Royal Mail.
4. Add the **Tracking number** and, if you have it, the **Tracking link**: the carrier's page for this parcel, starting with `https://`.
5. Choose the location it left from, if you have more than one.
6. Leave the email to the customer on to send the **Order shipped** email, or switch it off if you'll tell them yourself.
7. Select **Send order**.

The order's sending status becomes **Sent**, or **Partly sent** if items are still to go. The history records who sent it, with the carrier and tracking number.

An order can only be marked as sent once it is paid or placed on invoice. A cancelled order can't be sent.

## Send in more than one parcel

When only part of an order is ready, choose just those items. The order shows **Partly sent**, and **Send the rest** marks what is left when the next parcel goes. Each parcel keeps its own carrier and tracking, and each can email the customer.

Items you have refunded don't need sending: an order is **Sent** when everything that wasn't refunded has gone out.

## Collection in store

When the customer chose to collect from one of your locations, the order shows that location instead of a delivery address. Mark the order as sent when the customer picks it up, and leave the carrier and tracking empty.

## What the customer sees

- **The Order shipped email** says which carrier has the parcel and gives the tracking number. When you add a tracking link, the email has a button to follow the parcel. You can change the wording under **Email templates**. See [Emails to customers](https://docs.bifrostorbit.com/commerce/everyone/emails-to-customers/).
- **Their order page**, on the hosted shop or your own website, lists every parcel with its carrier, tracking number and link. See [The hosted shop](https://docs.bifrostorbit.com/commerce/everyone/hosted-shop/).

## Shipping labels

With a carrier connected under **Shipping and taxes**, each parcel on a delivered order has **Create label**:

1. Mark the order as sent as above, without a tracking number.
2. Under **Sent**, select **Create label** for the parcel.
3. Choose the shipping method. The one the customer chose at checkout is picked already, with their pickup point if they chose one.
4. Enter the weight if the products don't have one, and choose whether to email the customer the tracking link.
5. Select **Create label**. The label opens as a PDF to print, and the parcel gets the carrier, tracking number and link.

**Print label** opens it again later. Labels are kept for 180 days. Labels from the sandbox carrier are samples and can't be posted.

## Elsewhere in Orbit

Marking an order as sent sends a `commerce.order.fulfilled` event to Orbit Exchange. See [Events](https://docs.bifrostorbit.com/commerce/developers/webhooks-and-events/).

## Not there yet

Commerce Orbit doesn't follow parcels by itself: the customer follows them with the carrier's tracking link. Without a connected carrier, book the parcel with your carrier, then add its tracking here.
