# Connect an AI assistant

> Let an assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT look up products, stock and orders, see what needs attention and improve product text, within your own role.

An AI assistant that supports connectors (MCP), such as Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or VS Code, can work in Commerce Orbit for you. Ask it things like:

- "Which products are out of stock?"
- "What needs attention in the shop today?"
- "Show me order NW1042 and what's still to send."
- "Which orders are waiting for MAM?"
- "Rewrite the description of the Tind 2 tent so it mentions the weight and the porch."

## Connect one

1. Open **AI assistants** under **Developers** in Commerce Orbit and copy the address.
2. In your assistant, add a connector or MCP server with that address. On the same page, **Add to Cursor** and **Add to VS Code** do this for you, and you can copy the command for Claude Code.
3. The assistant opens a page from Commerce Orbit. Sign in to Orbit if you aren't, choose the organisation and allow it.

In Claude, add a custom connector with the address under **Settings**, **Connectors**. In ChatGPT, create a connector under **Settings**, **Apps and connectors**. Custom connectors depend on your ChatGPT plan.

## What it can do

It works with [your role](https://docs.bifrostorbit.com/commerce/everyone/roles/):

- **Everyone:** list and search products with their status, stock and MAM part number; read a product with its variants, prices in each currency and stock at each location; list collections; list and read orders; and see what needs attention: orders to send, unpaid and overdue invoices, low stock and how the MAM connection is doing
- **Editors and Admins, also:** improve a product's title, summary, description and SEO text

## What it never does

- Change prices, stock, status, options or variants. When it rewrites a product's text, everything else stays as it was.
- Create or remove products, discount codes or collections
- Refund, cancel, send or take payments, or touch Stripe, MAM or settings
- See customers' email addresses, phone numbers or addresses. Orders show the customer's name and company, what was ordered and the totals.

Check what it writes before your customers read it. Its words are its own, even when the facts come from Commerce Orbit. Product text is written in your main language; it can't write translations yet.

## Disconnect one

Under **AI assistants**, select **Disconnect** next to it. It stops at once. Admins see every assistant connected in the organisation and can disconnect any of them; everyone else sees their own. An assistant also stops when the person who connected it loses Commerce Orbit, and after 30 days without use.
