# Your first campaign

> Build a landing page, a banner with a countdown and a follow-up, and a popup, all in Staging.

Campaigns are part of the Growth and Enterprise plans. On Starter, landing pages, banners and popups under **Marketing** show a lock with the plan that includes them, and an owner can upgrade under Billing in Orbit.

This tutorial walks through a small sale campaign: a landing page, a banner that counts down to the end of the sale and then hands over to another, and a popup. Work in **Staging** and start every name with **TEMP** so it is easy to clean up.

## 1. The landing page

1. Open **Marketing › Landing pages** and choose **New landing page**.
2. Name it **TEMP Autumn sale**. It lives at `/lp/temp-autumn-sale`, whatever folder it is in.
3. Add blocks: an image, a heading, some text and a button.
4. In **Schedule**, set when it ends and what happens then: keep the page with an "offer ended" message, send visitors elsewhere, or answer that it is gone.

Landing pages are hidden from search engines by default, which suits paid campaigns.

## 2. The banner

1. Open **Marketing › Banners** and choose **New banner**.
2. Write the message. Wrap words in stars to highlight them: `Autumn sale: *30% off*`.
3. Add a **Countdown** block. Without a date of its own it counts down to when the banner ends.
4. In **Schedule**, set the end date and time. Under **Targeting**, choose pages, or leave it empty for every page.
5. Choose a background colour. The text turns white or dark by itself so it stays readable, or choose a **Text colour** of your own. Under **Position**, choose whether it sits above or under the website's header, if your website offers both.

## 3. The follow-up banner

1. In the banner's **When it ends** card, choose **Create follow-up banner**.
2. A copy opens, named **TEMP Autumn sale: after**. Change its message, for example `Sale extended until Sunday`.
3. Publish both. The follow-up takes over the second the countdown reaches zero.

See [Hand a banner over when its countdown ends](https://docs.bifrostorbit.com/cms/editors/banner-follow-ups/) for the details.

## 4. The popup

1. Open **Marketing › Popups** and choose **New popup**.
2. Pick a layout, add an image, heading, text and a button or a promo code.
3. Under **Who sees it**, choose everyone, guests or signed-in visitors, and how many days it stays hidden after someone closes it.

When your website is connected for preview, the popup's preview shows it on your website, on the first page it targets, and updates as you type.

## 5. Check and clean up

Preview each one, then unpublish and delete the TEMP entries. They go to the bin and can be restored.
