# Choose how a collection is edited

> Open a collection's entries in the full editor with a live preview, like pages, or in a side panel beside the list, like FAQ entries.

A collection is a kind of repeatable entry, such as blog posts, authors or FAQ entries. Each collection opens its entries in one of two ways.

- **Live preview.** An entry opens in the full editor, beside a preview of the website, just like a page. Use it for entries people read on their own page, such as blog posts. When the entries have fields but no blocks, the fields sit beside the website's preview of the entry, and the preview refreshes each time your changes are saved.
- **Side panel.** An entry opens in a panel beside the collection's list, so you can work through many entries without leaving it. Use it for short entries that appear inside other pages, such as FAQ entries or team members.

Pages always open with a live preview. Collections whose entries have their own address, such as a blog, start with **Live preview**. Collections without one start with **Side panel**.

## Change it

You need a role with permission to change the schema.

1. Go to **Schema › Content types**.
2. Choose **New content type** and make it a collection, or edit an existing collection.
3. Under **Behaviour**, choose **Live preview** or **Side panel** under **Editing**.
4. Save.

The change applies straight away to everyone, and no entry is changed. Links to an entry, from search or from the preview's menus, open it in the chosen way.

The side panel has the name, the fields and the body, but no SEO tab. If entries need a title and description of their own for search engines, keep **Live preview**.
