Some appointments are more likely to be missed than others. Booking Orbit gives each upcoming appointment a no-show risk from 0 to 100 and, when it is **Some risk** (25 or more) or **High risk** (45 or more), shows a badge on the [Today](https://docs.bifrostorbit.com/booking/everyone/today/) page.

## Why an appointment gets a score

The score starts at 10 and adds or takes off points for things that are known to matter. Select the badge to see exactly which ones count for an appointment:

| Reason | Points |
| --- | --- |
| The customer missed earlier appointments | Up to +40 |
| It is the customer's first visit | +10 |
| Booked more than three weeks ahead | +12 |
| Nothing was paid in advance for a paid service | +10 |
| No phone number for a text reminder | +5 |
| Booked the same day | −5 |
| Booked with the team | −5 |
| Paid or left a deposit | −10 |
| Has come three times or more without missing one | −15 |

There is no hidden model: the same reasons always give the same score, and no customer data leaves Booking Orbit for it.

## What to do with it

- **Send an extra reminder.** Select the badge, then **Send an extra reminder**. It goes by text message when the location has text messages set up and the customer gave a phone number, otherwise by email, halfway between now and the appointment, and at the latest four hours before it.
- **Ask for a deposit.** If many no-shows are for one service, ask for a deposit when it is booked, under the service's payment settings.
- **Mark the outcome.** Marking appointments as done or as a no-show after they end keeps the score honest for the customer's next booking.
