# Customers

> Everyone who books has one record per location with their visits, notes and tags. Merge duplicates, export a customer's data and erase them for good.

**Customers** lists everyone who has booked at the location, from the booking page, the widget, the API or your team. Search by name, email or phone, and filter by tag.

## One record per person

Booking Orbit recognises a returning customer by their email, or by their phone when there is no email, so their visits stay together. If they add a phone the next time, it's added to their record.

A customer's page shows their completed visits, what's coming up, cancellations and no-shows, every appointment and any waitlist places. Change their details, add **notes for the team** such as a shoe size, and **tags** such as Regular or Trip guide.

## Merge duplicates

When the same person has booked with two emails, open one of them and choose **Merge duplicates**. Booking Orbit suggests likely duplicates (same name, similar email, same phone) and you can search for others. Their appointments, waitlist places, payments, notes and tags move to the customer you're on; the duplicates disappear.

## Export and erase

- **Export data** downloads everything Booking Orbit holds about the customer as one file, for when they ask for a copy.
- **Erase** deletes their name, contact details, notes, form answers and waitlist places for good. Their appointments stay as "Erased customer", so your reports still add up. Only admins can erase, and it can't be undone.
